Utilizes the nursing process to provide comprehensive nursing care during the peri-operative phase. Coordinates total patient care in coordination with other health team members particularly the Center’s team. Functions as a patient advocate utilizing the Patient’s Bill of Rights. Demonstrates professional growth and development by accepting responsibility and accountability for one’s nursing practice.
Performs a variety of duties in the Center, as a member of the surgical team. Scrubs on all types of cases performed at the Center, including orthopedic, plastic surgery, laser and local cases. Assists in preparation for cases by “picking cases” and set-up and maintenance of sterile field. May also function as surgeon’s second assistant.
Decontaminates and prepares for sterilization, all trays, instrumentation and equipment used at the Center. Processes instrumentation between cases in a timely manner following all facility accepted practices as outlined in center Policy & Procedures. Performs regular equipment checks such as autoclave QI program, and maintains records/logs. Assists in moving and positioning of patients, as time permits and need exists. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, particularly in turn-over of the surgery suites between cases, while assisting with terminal cleaning at the end of the schedule.
Peakpoint is seeking a Pre/Post Operative Nurse who can utilize the nursing process to provide comprehensive nursing care during the pre and post-operative phase. Provides leadership, direction and administration of all activities to ensure accomplishment of facilities objectives.
Competent to fulfill the staff nurse positions in O.R., P.A.C.U., Pre- and Post-operative care and is responsible for the coordination of care provided in these units on a daily basis, collaborating closely with the Administrator. May utilize charge personnel in clinical areas as is deemed necessary.
